Education for a better life

Every child gets only one chance at school. Stubbin Wood believes that every child does matter and deserves the very best that we can offer.

We think alot of all the people that work here, both staff and pupils. We have high expectations of them. All of our pupils have learning disabilities and many have additional needs, needing the support of occupational and physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and visiting teachers. We work with parents and families to overcome the challenges our pupils face.

The Aims of the School
At Stubbin Wood we provide a place where everyone can achieve their potential, feel secure and act safely, and respect the rights and aspirations of others both in school and outside it. We are committed to partnership with all the people who contribute to the work that we do, including pupils and families, staff, governors, and other professionals, schools, organisations and agencies.

How do we work?
At Stubbin Wood everyone agrees to the following:

1. We show respect, support and consideration for others. We work hard. Everyone has an importance whatever their role.

2. We feel free to praise where praise is due; where we have to offer criticism, we do this positively, with regard to the other person’s feelings.

3. Learning really is lifelong, and staff need opportunities to learn too. People will learn in suitable, attractive and stimulating environments, where age appropriate resources are available to all.

Quality teaching and learning is what we do. Accepting our responsibilities toward each other really will mean ‘Education for a better Life’.
